11 major health advantages of plant protein

By Gloria Stovall

Although it was well over a decade ago, I can still recollect how much stronger, cleaner and healthier I felt overall when I finally made the transition from non-vegan to vegan; and contrary to the myth and stereotype that vegans are weak, I literally became and felt so much stronger when I relinquished consuming all animal products.  It was as if my immune system was entirely restored…improved with enhanced energy levels that I had never experienced when I was eating animal protein and products.  Even to this day, I have an immense amount of energy that I sometimes feel like I could climb Mount Everest or Kilimanjaro in two hours, as a result of eating plants.

I can personally attest, plant protein is remarkably healthier than animal protein for hundreds of reasons; but for the sake of time, I am going to focus on the 11 key health advantages of plant protein that I have experienced.  Just a side note…the best form of plant protein is “organic” as organic food in general is produced without chemicals, pesticides or any other artificial means; but if you are on a budget as I am, buying organic plant protein is not always realistic; so I try to make sure at least 60% of the plant protein I purchase is organic.

Without further ado, these are some of the major health advantages of plant protein that I have noticed throughout my own vegan journey.

  1. Increased and enhanced energy levels.
  2. Regular bowel movements due to the dietary fiber in plants.
  3. Improved brain function-memory-cognitive thinking.
  4. Stronger muscle tone and strength overall.
  5. Beautiful and shiny glow to the skin-look and feel younger.
  6. Improved heart health-lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
  7. Increased fiber intake and vital nutrients.
  8. Reduced depression and sadness.
  9. Maintain healthy blood sugar levels-reduced chance of diabetes.
  10. Noticeably stronger immune system against diseases.
  11. Reduced inflammation in knees and body overall.

So if these marvelous health benefits as a result of consuming plant protein have not gotten your attention, I can promise my upcoming blog entries will most definitely get your attention as I will be discussing why animal protein is not as healthy as some think, regardless of organic or inorganic.  Thank you so much for reading my blogs and I am looking forward to writing more engaging blogs for you-go vegan!
