Results speak for themselves as the vegan diet has proven to be the most beneficial, effective, advantageous, disease fighting, ethical, humane and environmentally friendly diet on the face of the planet. The vegan diet has also proven to be exceedingly beneficial for athletes as the powerful protein and plant compounds in a plant-based diet offers an immense amount of essential muscle building nutrients and energy that athletes require for high-level performance. I personally have a fondness for sports so writing this blog entry about vegan athletes is quite a treat!
One of the greatest tennis players of all time, Venus Williams, has seven Grand Slam singles titles, 16 Grand Slam double titles and four Olympic gold medals. What many people do not know is that Venus Williams is an advocate for the plant-based diet and has been a vegan for ten years. After Venus was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease she decided to try out the vegan diet; and fast forward ten years later, she is still vegan.
Fiona Oaks, the record marathon runner, went vegan at the age of 6 and holds four world records! Fiona specifically focuses on eating a wholefood vegan diet, which means foods that are unprocessed or minimally processed. Oaks is also an ambassador for The Vegan Society, runs an animal sanctuary and is a patron of the Captive Animals Protection Society.

Carl Lewis, the famous track and field star who won NINE gold medals and one silver medal in the Olympics, has been a vegan since 1990 and a longtime advocate of the plant-based diet. Carl Lewis attributes his high performing spectacular Olympic success to the vegan diet. The “Vegan Warrior” Anthony Mullally is one of the greatest rugby players in the world and the strength and build of an ox! Mullally was a former vegetarian; but became vegan for ethical reasons and stated since going vegan he maintained his muscle and lost some of his body fat, so in other words, he maintained muscle and lost fat, which is pretty awesome!
Pro Surfer, Tia Blanco, is an advocate of the vegan diet and says the vegan diet has “huge impacts on the earth and your health.” She eats a balanced vegan diet that is rich in nuts, seeds, beans and legumes as well as quinoa, a rich source of plant protein. Surfing requires strength and endurance; so to maintain her strength and high level of fitness, Tia lifts weights, runs, and rides bikes and practices yoga on a daily basis.
Not only is MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter James Wilks a vegan but also he is also powerful vegan activist, combative instructor and film producer. Wilks stated he initially became a vegan for health and athletic performance and later on for ethics and the environment.

I only noted a few of the hundreds of talented and successful vegan athletes in the world and as time goes by, I am almost 100% confident at least 40% of the athletes in the world will be eating a vegan diet as being powered by plants yields the highest performance.
Thank you so much for stopping by today and following my blog! I welcome any ideas you may have for future topics.
Have a fantastic week!
