I can most assuredly tell you from personal experience the vegan diet is indeed superior to the keto, paleo and Mediterranean diet; but before diving into the 18 reasons why the vegan diet is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) I will give a brief overview of these popular diets.
The ketogenic diet, also known as the keto diet, is a diet that is low in carbohydrates and high in fat. To sum it up, this diet severely reduces the intake of carbohydrates and replaces them with fat. The keto diet is not healthy as you are giving up whole grains, beans, fruits, which results in nutrient deficiencies, constipation, fatigue, upset stomach, kidney stones, osteoporosis and liver disease.
The Paleolithic diet, also known as the paleo or hunter-gatherer diet consists of eating foods that prehistoric humans consumed including lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. It excludes highly processed foods, which is a plus but excludes legumes and whole grains; which are vital for the body. While the paleo diet overall has more health advantages than the keto diet, it increases the risk for calcium and vitamin d deficiencies in addition to an increased risk of kidney and heart disease due to the high amount of saturated fat the paleo diet recommends.

The Mediterranean diet is a diet that has a plethora of vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, beans, cereals, grains, fish and poultry and limits red meat. This diet also allows for the consumption of eggs and dairy products including feta, Brie and Parmesan cheese and Greek yogurt. This diet definitely has some perks but overall is not the healthiest as it allows for dairy to be consumed, which is one of the highest sources of the saturated fat that leads to heart disease, type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. Although at a minimum, the Mediterranean diet still allows red meat to be consumed, which has been linked to cancer; and also allows poultry consumption, which has been linked to an increased risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and prostate cancer.
The vegan diet is a diet that only contains plants and foods made from plants, which means vegans do not consume foods that come from animals including dairy products and eggs. The vegan diet is healthiest when consumed as a whole food, in other words, minimum processing, such as whole grains, legumes, nuts, beans, fruits and vegetables as over-processed vegan foods are not as beneficial and should not be consumed in excess amounts due to high sodium and so forth. With that being said, the following are eighteen reasons why the vegan diet is superior to the keto, paleo and Mediterranean diet.
- Lowers blood sugar levels-controls or eliminates diabetes
- Improves kidney function
- Strongly recommended by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Promotes healthy weight levels when consuming unprocessed, whole foods
- Reverses heart disease-improve heart health
- Increased brain and cognitive function
- Reduces risk of certain cancers and chronic diseases
- Fights and reduces inflammation
- Significantly reduces animal suffering
- Reduces carbon footprint
- Ethical and environmentally friendly
- Lowers risk of type 2 diabetes
- Promotes healthy skin and reduces acne
- Improves muscle function, tone and health
- Lowers the risk for Alzheimer’s disease
- Increases energy, alertness and memory function
- Increased intake of dietary fiber, reduced constipation
- Regular bowel movements

The vegan diet is superior to all other diets as it helps save the planet, significantly reduces animal suffering and overall the healthiest diet on the planet.
