18 reasons why you should stop consuming dairy

By Gloria Stovall

Livestock is responsible for 14.5 percent of all emissions. Reducing consumption of dairy and meat products helps combat global climate change

To say the dairy industry and I do not like each other is an understatement, to say the least; but that was not always the case, as I grew up devouring dairy by the ton…milk, cheese, cream, butter, ice cream, yogurt and everything else that contained dairy; but once I began to educate myself about the atrocities of the dairy industry, what it entailed, and how detrimental dairy was to my health, going vegan and committing to being a vegan for life was one of the wisest decisions I had ever made; and I enthusiastically encourage you to go vegan as well.

What exactly is dairy?  Simply put, dairy is milk produced by the mammary glands of mammals including cattle, goats, sheep, camels, water buffalo and any other mammal.  What is a mammal?  A mammal is distinguished by the secretion of milk by females for the nourishment of the young and typically the birth of live young.  What is the purpose of mammals producing milk?  To feed their babies!  Cows produce milk to feed their babies, goats produce milk to feed their babies, sheep produce milk to produce their babies, cats produce milk to feed their babies, dogs produce milk to feed their babies, human females produce milk to feed their babies and so on and so on…  With that being said, humans are not baby cows, goats, sheep…etc., so they should NOT be consuming milk that is produced by any other mammal other than their mothers.

Almond milk is a healthy alternative to dairy

Sadly, due to the excessive milking and continuous pregnancies dairy cows endure in their miserable lives, mastitis occurs; which is a painful condition that causes pus and blood to be in the milk produced.  What does this mean for those of you who consume dairy?  Regardless of whether or not you are consuming inorganic or organic dairy, you are still most likely consuming pus and blood as the FDA allows and permits up to 750 million pus cells in every liter of milk and in Europe, up to 400 million pus cells are permitted per liter.

These are 18 reasons why you should stop consuming dairy:

  1. The dairy industry is extremely cruel to animals
  2. Dairy farms are destroying the environment
  3. Dairy consumption has been linked to breast, ovarian and prostate cancer
  4. Humans are lactose intolerant-hence they are humans not baby cows
  5. Dairy consumption causes cramps, bloating, gas and discomfort
  6. Dairy causes acne, inflammation and skin disorders in most young adults
  7. Dairy milk requires up to three times the greenhouse gases to be produced compared to plant-based milk
  8. Dairy milk contains estrogen which has been linked to breast cancer
  9. Dairy consumption has been linked to type 2 diabetes
  10. Consuming dairy causes constipation, heart disease and blockages.
  11. Dairy milk has been linked to osteoporosis and increased chances of bone fractures
  12. Dairy products are high in cholesterol, saturated fat and sodium
  13. Infants fed cow milk based formulas have been linked to NEC (Necrotizing Enterocolitis)
  14. Dairy contains antibiotics, growth hormones, pus and blood.
  15. Organic dairy products may still contain traces of growth hormones and antibiotics although not as much as inorganic dairy
  16. Dairy consumption increases the body’s level of insulin
  17. Consuming dairy reduces energy levels, causes fatigue and may be linked to depression.
  18. Dairy contains casein-a protein that has been associated with inflammation in the brain and depression

Ditch dairy and go vegan!  Your body, brain, mind and conscious will be so ever grateful.  I hope you are well and considering the vegan lifestyle.  I appreciate you and thank you always for following my blog.  Have a blessed week!
